Skans is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we collect and use your personal data. What information do we collect?

Information you provide to us. You can directly or indirectly provide us with information about yourself in a number of different ways, such as when you place an order on our website, contact us, use our customer portal or another of Skans's services, where you provide personal data to us. 

It can be about:

  • Personal or contact information: Name, date of birth, social security number, title, billing address, delivery address, e-mail address, mobile phone number, etc.
  • Information about goods or services: Detailed information about the articles you buy. Which products you bought, how many and how much you paid.
  • Payment method and status

  • Discount and promotional codes, including referrals to friends you have tipped.
  • Information on strength, sharpening and prescription: Specific information on strength, sharpening and prescription, ie. information on power (sphere), cylinder, axis, base curve and pupil distance.
  • Financial information: In order to provide you with the correct level of service, our payment provider may collect information about, among other things, your income, any credit obligations, negative payment notes and previously granted credits. None of this information is communicated to or otherwise made available to Skans.

The purpose of these emails is to convey relevant information and offers regarding Skans's brand, services and products. Skans also analyzes your behavior to ensure we deliver as relevant targeted content as possible (ie to make your experience more personal).

For those of you who have purchased from Skans, the processing is necessary to satisfy our and your legitimate interest in giving/receiving information and offers regarding Skans's brands, services and products. How long do we save your personal data?

We store the personal data we collect as long as we have a legitimate purpose to store them. When we no longer have a legitimate purpose and need to process yours personal data, we delete or anonymize them.

Identity, contact information and transaction data are stored to document purchases you have made and agreements we have entered into, and for accounting and tax reasons obligations, for 5 full financial years, after the end of the year for which the purchase or agreement was made attaches, or the later date the purchase price was paid in full. 

Personal information, including health information contained in your medical record, is stored in 10 year after the last entry in the record, in order to comply with our legal obligation to keep records, and to preserve documentation for the healthcare treatment we have provided for you.

Profile information, Marketing and Communication data are stored for up to 2 years. If you have given your consent to receive marketing, we keep evidence of this until 2 years after the last time we used your consent to send marketing. If you pull your consent, we will immediately stop sending you marketing. Technical data and usage data are stored for 13 months from the time of collection. Recordings from video surveillance will generally be deleted after 30 days. Information can be stored for a longer period if we are obliged to do so by law, or if storage is necessary for legal claims to be established, asserted or defended.


How we will communicate with you

After your first purchase, or if you have signed up for our newsletters, Skans can send information and offers via e-mail, SMS and letter. The purpose of these mailings is to convey relevant information about Skans, our services and products. In order to develop our service, our services and products, customer surveys may also be sent out. Where do we store your personal data?

We always endeavor to process your information within the EU/EEA. However, in certain cases the information may be transferred to and processed somewhere other than within the EU/EEA, by a supplier or sub-supplier. As Skans is committed to always protecting your information, we take all reasonable legal, technical and organizational measures to ensure that your information is processed securely and with an appropriate level of protection, comparable to and at least in line with the degree of protection offered within the EU/EEA. When personal data is transferred and processed outside the EU/EEA, we use in some cases so-called standard agreement clauses, determined by the EU Commission. Our legitimate interests

When processing with the support of the legal basis of legitimate interest, we believe that our legitimate interest is based on the fact that our processing is necessary for us to carry out, fulfill and administer our business and our Services. We also have a legitimate interest in protecting ourselves, our customers and our suppliers from fraudulent behavior and misuse of our services. Our legitimate interest in sending marketing and offers about our company and our Services is based on the fact that such information may be of great interest to our customers and that any confidentiality risk for the data subject is very limited. Your rights as registered

Right to withdraw your consent. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time to us processing your personal data regarding sharpening, strength and your prescription. If you withdraw your consent, it does not affect the lawfulness of the processing based on your consent before it was withdrawn by you.

Right to access your information. If you want to know and verify the information we have about you, you can request a printout of the information. You can request a printout of the information free of charge. To the extent that we process personal data about you in order to fulfill our contractual obligations to you, and you yourself have provided this personal data to us, you have the right to have this provided in a structured, generally applicable and machine-readable format, and you have also the right to transfer this information to another data controller, data portability.

Right to restriction of processing: In certain cases, you have the right to demand that we restrict the processing of your personal data, i.e. restricts processing to certain limited purposes. In the event of an objection, we must cease the processing if we cannot show compelling legitimate reasons for the processing which are more important than your interests, rights and freedoms, or if the processing of the personal data is carried out for the purpose of establishing, exercising or defending legal claims.

Right to object to direct marketing. When personal data is processed for the purpose of direct marketing, you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data about you for direct marketing purposes. If you object to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes, we will cease processing your personal data for direct marketing purposes.

Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"). To the extent that your personal data is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, you have the right to demand that your personal data be deleted. However, certain legal obligations prevent us from immediately deleting parts of your information. Such obligations follow from accounting and tax legislation, but also from legislation on consumer contract law. What we do is block information that we want to prevent from being used for purposes other than complying with such legal requirements.

Right to complain to the supervisory authority In the event that you are dissatisfied with our processing of your personal data, you have the right to complain to the supervisory authority, which in Denmark is the Danish Data Protection Authority.

Changes to this policy. We may update and change this policy. In case of major changes, we will inform about the changes in an appropriate way, e.g. by posting the updated policy on our website.
